Artist Statement

  Art is a universal language that is given to everyone.

 I was born in a historical town Nizhny Novgorod in Russia in 1995, drawing  was a way to express my imagination since I was 5 years old. However I put my talent aside pursuing other passions in life. I was introduced to oil paint for a first time in 2021, it was a life changing discovery. Later I decided to explore customs of different ethnic groups in Africa in particular because of my husband`s background. I believe that Africa is the crater of all civilizations. It brought Christianity and Islam together. It explains why Russia has many traditions and legends that are similar to African. And I am going to tell the stories in a new and unfamiliar way. To put it simply, it is a blend of two backgrounds. Because there is no such thing as unique and rare culture, culture knows no boundaries. It travels across continents and different ethnicities. It can be found where you the least expect it. I genuinely want to make my viewers question familiar context, and at the same time I want them to realize that there is a lot that we don’t know about our world.
